Your waist that is. Well, the waist of your dress I mean. Recently, I was commiserating with a friend about being short-waisted. I have no torso. Seriously it’s like boobs, legs. It’s weird and annoying. It means I don’t tuck shirts in. All pants are high-waisted and I think it is largely responsible for my inability to wear most shorts. Like I said…annoying. I end up wearing a lot of tunic tops and am a huge fan of the dress over pants look because it helps elongate my midsection. This summer (and FYI, it’s going to be big for fall too), I’ve kind of fallen in love with drop waist dresses. Pick one that falls around your hip bone or a bit below. I’m relatively tall, but if I”m worried about the dress shortening the appearance of my legs, I’ll just pair it with pumps to get the length back.
I recently bought this dress from Old Navy, currently on sale for $23! I’ve worn it with sandals and crossbody bag for a day of shopping in SoHo and with a blazer and pumps for work.

Casual: Bag: RTfairtrade.com {$150}; Shoes: Billabong {$24}; Sunglasses: Ray-Ban Wayfarer {$155}
Work: Blazer: Sheinside {$33}; Shoes: Miss Sixty {$125}; Bracelets: Mango {$31} and Alex and Ani {$58}
If you’d like to give it a whirl, here are a few I liked $100 or less. If you’re buying something for work and play, be mindful of the length! Many of the styles end up being rather short and you don’t want to be that girl.
